I am working on my PhD in CS at the U of CA,
Santa Cruz. My research focus is in large-scale,
distributed storage systems and structured
storage. While a grad student I have completed
internships with Google and Microsoft.
Previously I worked at Veritas (now Symantec)
in Roseville for four years as a software engineer.

Teacher |
I spent a few years in the Peace Corps in Uganda. While
there I worked as a primary teacher trainer. I designed
and conducted workshops for teachers, developed
instructional materials and learning resource centers,
set up a computer lab at a primary teacher's college, and
carried out computer training of tutors, teachers, and
students at the college. I also worked with school
communities and local organizations to achieve mutually
identified development goals including efforts to mitigate
the impact of HIV/AIDS. I now teach at Blaine High School.

I am currently at Rogers HS. Through my five
years so far I have taught Algebra I and II, Geometry,
Remedial Geometry, and this year I will take on a
Pre-Calc course. I am also the Head Boys' tennis coach
and the Assistant Girls' tennis coach. That has been a
great way of getting involved with the students beyond
the classroom. |

User Experience Designer |
I work at PTC. My main job is to get the design of
the product as close to user-driven-design as possible.
This involves three main pieces. The first is doing
end user research. We talk to users, gather
requirements and learn from them what it is that they
need. Part of this is observing users in their
workspace to see how it is that they work in their
environments. The second is doing designs. We use
mock-up tools to do this and collaboratively iterate
on designs. Those designs are then taken to users to
gather feedback, usually in the form of usability testing.
We are able to iterate on designs based on user feedback.
We do usability testing on both rough mock-ups and actual
builds being worked on by development. We do many
different kinds of usability evaluations: sit-down
usability sessions with users, card sorting, feedback
sessions, heuristic and cognitive walk-throughs. |

Director |
I am the Director of the GreaterWorks Program
at Youthworks!, Inc. Being that GreaterWorks was
such a small organization before being incorporated
in YouthWorks, I did everything from HR to Finance to
Management to Training to Marketing and Recruiting.
Now that GreaterWorks is actually a part of YouthWorks!
many of those roles will be distributed to different
departments. I'd say that I'm definitely not using the
technical aspects of my math major on a daily basis, but
the ability to analyze and problem solve comes in handy
nearly every day! I haven't had any regrets about my
course of study at Bethel |

Software Development |
I work at IBM. I Started with software development,
and am also working for Masters at U of M. I'm now in
different division running beta programs. I help improve
software and help customers get up to date with new
software. I no longer do active software development,
but still heavily use my technical skills. We have to
learn new technologies fast, be good at debugging problems,
understand how our customers need to use our products to
drive their business, and then be able to teach them what
they need to do to be successful. We end up doing a lot
of education and training, which I really enjoy. |

I work with YouthWorks in Mexico. I am pursuing a
Biblical studies degree hoping to become a full time
missionary by 2012. I knew math would give me options,
and after graduation, I did have options in a variety
of fields. As advertised, the Math Major communicates
a great deal to perspective employers as to the quality
of student one must be to actually graduate with a math
major. |

I work at Securian. My focus is on IBM's WebSphere
web server, Java, website security, and application
performance monitoring, mixed in with Perl, Python,
XML, and many other things. The education provided
by Bethel's Computer Science program prepared me well
for my job by providing technical knowledge, problem
solving skills, and a solid base for a smooth transition
into the "real world." |

in May 2010 received a PhD in Mathematics.
Currently, I am blessed to be an Assistant

In the short time I have been at Union University,
I'm really enjoying the southern hospitality.

I worked for Apple in Cupertino, CA in the Mac OS X Software

and I decided to move back to Minnesota to spend more time with
our families, and in February 2008 I began work as a web
developer for a small startup called Enclarity. I was there for
almost a year and my position was terminated when the economy
tanked. I then went to work as Lead Web Developer for an even
smaller startup called The Table Project, making a social web
application for use in churches. You'll hear about The Table
in 2010.

I am a Software Designer and Programmer at resource

programming has to do with actuarial science. We
build pension administration systems, which involves a
lot of number manipulations using mortality tables,
interest rates, and special age calculations. My math
background has been really helpful in being able to
communicate with actuaries and to understand all of
their methods to calculate annuities and lump sums at
different points in time. |

Infrastructure Implementer |
I work at Virteva, a consulting company,
implementing infrastructure solutions. I am also a
Signal officer in the Army National Guard. My last
2 years at Bethel I had an internship at IBM for
their Global Services division at AMEX, doing
software packaging and distribution. I switched
to full-time following graduation and did the same
thing on the Xcel Energy account. I left for a
small consulting company that ended up breaking
off and forming its own company of six consultants,
implementing infrastructure solutions for various
corporations, to include systems management,
virtualization, identity management, directory
services, and software development (typically
automation of business or IT tasks). I've been with
that company for essentially five years. I am also a
Signal (Communications) officer in the Army National
Guard and was deployed to Iraq for 22 months, returning
two years ago. As the automation officer I was
responsible for designing, implementing, and managing
the computer systems for the brigade (5,000 soldiers),
and also ended up managing/coordinating all
communications on the Tallil base (10,000+ soldiers,
contractors, and coalition/foreign military). |

February for a month to work in a hospital. |

President |
I am president of Centrav, Inc., an international
travel consolidator. I started as technology manager
six years ago. Apart from a logic course at the
seminary (with Dr. Schultz - excellent course) and
OOAD training/certification, I have not done any
further schooling. While at Bethel I worked in IT
for the USFDA, then for a startup company, BayRiver.
Both of these were done as internships/jobs under Dr.
Turnquist. I found them to be extremely helpful in my
education and career. After Bethel I worked for about
a year with a consulting firm (mainly doing work for
Seagate) and another year working for the Billy Graham
Evangelical Association in their internet department.
The last six years I have been working for Centrav, Inc.,
an international travel consolidator founded in 1988. I
started as their technology manager. Over the last six
years, our company has gone from doing 100% of our
business through a call center to 90% of our business
coming through different technology points of sale. Over
the same time period the company grew significantly.
