I designed and conducted workshops for teachers, developed instructional materials and learning resource centers, set up a computer lab at a primary teacher's college, and carried out computer training of tutors, teachers, and students at the college. Nick Sheevel Math Education 2004 Teacher / Coach I am currently at Rogers HS. Through my five years so far I have taught Algebra I and II, Geometry, Remedial Geometry, and this year I will take on a Pre-Calc course. I am also the Head Boys' tennis coach and the Assistant Girls' tennis coach. That has been a great way of getting involved with the students beyond the classroom.
Sue Anderson (Richards) Computer Science 2003 User Experience Designer I work at PTC. My main job is to get the design of the product as close to user-driven-design as possible. This involves three main pieces. The first is doing end user research. We talk to users, gather requirements and learn from them what it is that they need. Part of this is observing users in their workspace to see how it is that they work in their environments. The second is doing designs. We use mock-up tools to do this and collaboratively iterate on designs. Those designs are then taken to users to gather feedback, usually in the form of usability testing. We are able to iterate on designs based on user feedback. We do usability testing on both rough mock-ups and actual builds being worked on by development. We do many different kinds of usability evaluations: sit-down usability sessions with users, card sorting, feedback sessions, heuristic and cognitive walk-throughs.
David Berg Math 2003 Director I am the Director of the GreaterWorks Program at Youthworks!, Inc. Being that GreaterWorks was such a small organization before being incorporated in YouthWorks, I did everything from HR to Finance to Management to Training to Marketing and Recruiting. Now that GreaterWorks is actually a part of YouthWorks! many of those roles will be distributed to different departments. I'd say that I'm definitely not using the technical aspects of my math major on a daily basis, but the ability to analyze and problem solve comes in handy nearly every day! I haven't had any regrets about my course of study at Bethel
Krista Computer Science 2003 Systems Analyst I am a Systems Analyst in the Information Services department of St. Paul insurance company. Taught K-12 computers for home-school co-op.

I'm now in different division running beta programs. I help improve software and help customers get up to date with new software. I no longer do active software development, but still heavily use my technical skills. We have to learn new technologies fast, be good at debugging problems, understand how our customers need to use our products to drive their business, and then be able to teach them what they need to do to be successful. We end up doing a lot of education and training, which I really enjoy.
Michael Johnson Math 2003 Missionary I work with YouthWorks in Mexico. I am pursuing a Biblical studies degree hoping to become a full time missionary by 2012. I knew math would give me options, and after graduation, I did have options in a variety of fields. As advertised, the Math Major communicates a great deal to perspective employers as to the quality of student one must be to actually graduate with a math major.
Aaron Murray Computer Science 2003 Technical Engineer I work at Securian. My focus is on IBM's WebSphere web server, Java, website security, and application performance monitoring, mixed in with Perl, Python, XML, and many other things. My last 2 years at Bethel I had an internship at IBM for their Global Services division at AMEX, doing software packaging and distribution. I switched to full-time following graduation and did the same thing on the Xcel Energy account. I left for a small consulting company that ended up breaking off and forming its own company of six consultants, implementing infrastructure solutions for various corporations, to include systems management, virtualization, identity management, directory services, and software development (typically automation of business or IT tasks). I've been with that company for essentially five years. I am also a Signal (Communications) officer in the Army National Guard and was deployed to Iraq for 22 months, returning two years ago.
